Free, off-peak bus travel throughout England for people aged 60 and over, disabled people and blind people, was introduced from 1st April 2008, and is available from 09:30 on Mondays to Fridays, any time Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
To take advantage of free bus travel eligible people need a permit, which in Lancashire is issued as a NoWcard, a smart bus pass.
When you travel on a Starship simply place your NoWcard on the ticket machine reader when you get on the bus, tell the driver your destination, then take your ticket.
If you already had a NoWcard, which you applied for from April 2007 onwards you should automatically have received a National Concession Bus Pass, as these were posted out from mid-March 2008.
For further information about concessionary travel call the NoWcard helpline on 0845 058 1096 or visit www.nowcard.org
Remember, the possibilities for days out by bus are now endless, be it for shopping, sightseeing, leisure, visiting – what ever you want to do will be even easier by bus, be it locally or further afield to Clitheroe, Preston, Manchester or may be even a day out to the coast!
